Our Commitment
The aim of this policy is to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect, and that no individual is denied access to any of our lessons for a discriminatory reason. The goal of PE Monkeys is to grow and sustain a PE programme that is inclusive and accessible to every child and every community we work with.
Working together we will develop and implement practices that proactively grow participation by welcoming difference and accepting diversity, in order to reach new and existing families and settings. We will continue to build an environment that celebrates diversity and is unapologetic in tackling all forms of discrimination.
Our Approach
We embed fair play values within all of our lessons and actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion. The commitment outlined in this policy covers all aspects of the business. It is expected that all employees, children, parents, coaches and volunteers who work on behalf of, represent or engage with PE Monkeys will adhere to the principles of this policy.
PE Monkeys welcomes children of all religious beliefs, faiths, cultures and abilities, and believes that every child taking part is of equal value. The lessons we run strive to provide equal opportunities for all children, whatever their race, religion, language, culture, gender, health, ability, personality or lifestyle.
Legislative Framework
Our approach is guided by relevant equality and anti-discrimination legislation, including the Equality Act 2010, which brings together and replaces earlier legislation such as the Sex Discrimination Act, the Race Relations Act, the Disability Discrimination Act and the Equal Pay Act.
Education & Awareness
Education and understanding of other people's needs and backgrounds will be fostered to promote positive behaviour and attitudes. Discriminatory behaviour, attitudes and comments will be challenged, regardless of whether they come from children, staff, parents or carers.
We will regularly review this policy and amend it where necessary to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
